本スタンダードは，
Flat Panel Display - Factory Automation Global Technical Committee で技術的に承認されたもので，Korean Flat Panel Display Working Groupが直接責任を負うものである。現版は2004年11月24日Japan Regional Standards Committeeにて承認されている。2005年1月にまずwww.semi.orgで入手可能になり，2005年3月発行に至る。

本スタンダードは，
flat panel display (FPD)画質検査におけるムラの目視検査に近いテスト条件に対する，SEMI D31で導出された方式の適用方法を定義する。
SEMI D31では，目視検査とCCDベースの計測器との比較において，FPDの欠陥および斑点を検出する方式を導出した。
一般に，人間の検査者に代わる計測器実装の困難さは，出所および場所に伴う人的要因の変動にある。
本スタンダードは，
FPDに適用される。本スタンダードは，主にSemuの測定方法およびSemuの改訂された定義を取り扱う。対象とする画面サイズは，通常，対角線長で20.3 cm (8 in.) – 76.2 cm (30 in.)とする。Referenced SEMI Standards
