이 표준은 기술적으로 Global Information & Control Technical Committee에 의해 승인 되었으며, 해당 버전의 출판은 2012년 12월 20일 Global Audits and Reviews Subcommittee에 의해 승인되었다. 1995년에 초본이 출판되었고 이전 버전은 2008년 7월에 출판되었다. 이번 출판본은 2013년 4월부터 www.semi.org에서 이용 가능하다.
이 표준은 장비 내부에 버퍼 공간이 있는 경우와 장비에서 장비로 자동 및 수동 캐리어 전송의 조정(coordination), 실행(execution), 완료(completion)와 같은 작업 중에 호스트 관점에서 생산장비와 통신하기 위한 표준화된 작동 상태를 제공한다.
이 표준은 SEMI E15.1 300 mm 로드 포트용 장비와 호스트간의 통신을 다룬다.
