オブジェクトベース装置モデル（OBEM）の目的は，次の事項を含む：

  • 多重プロセス装置および他の複合装置へのインタフェースについての標準モデルを定義する

  • 通信がコンポーネントに関する事項を「検討」できるように，標準装置を定義する。

  • 装置モデルが，OBEM適合装置を機械オブジェクトに接続することにより，SEMI E81 CIM構成システムに容易に統合できるように対応する。


オブジェクトベース装置モデル（OBEM）スタンダードの目的は，装置自体を含み，通常，装置を構成する物理的および論理的オブジェクトの共通に見られるタイプの定義，サービス，および挙動を，ファクトリとの通信の際に見られる通りに提供することである。スタンダード化されたオブジェクトの定義を使って装置はその構成を工場側に対して開示でき，工場側は装置の内部が見えるようになる。


本規定は暫定スタンダードであり，半導体工場内の製造装置の統合を実現するための概念，挙動，およびサービスを定義するものである。本スタンダードの範囲には工場ホストシステムへのインタフェースを提供する半導体製造装置，すべてが含まれる。サービスによっては材料搬送系に適用できない場合もある。


OBEM仕様を暫定版でなくするためには，以下の項目を完成しなければならない。

  1. § 11.2 — アクセス管理

  2. § 14 — OBEMへの準拠

詳細なスタンダードも将来追加する予定で，SECS-II，CORBA IDLおよびDCOMのような異なる製品に対するOBEMマッピングを規定する。
