本仕様はGlobal Liquid Chemical Distribution Systems Committeeにおいて技術的に承認されたもので，Japanese Liquid Chemical Distribution Systems Committeeが直接責任を負うものである。現版は2001年8月3日にJapanese Regional Standards Committeeにて承認された。2001年9月にまずwww.semi.orgで入手可能になり，2001年11月発行に至る。

本文書は，半導体及びフラットディスプレイ製造装置，及び薬液供給設備に使用するステンレス製容器のポート標記及び記号を規定する。
本文書が対象とするステンレス製容器は、薬液を導出もしくは導入するチューブ有しており、そのチューブが容器内部に貫通しているものである。
チューブの取合い部（ポート）にカップリング（クイックカップリング）を使用する容器はこの範囲から除く。
