Abstract

本スタンダードは，global Traceability Committeeで技術的に承認されている。現版は2006年5月16日，global Audits and Reviews Subcommitteeにて発行が承認された。2006年6月にwww.semi.orgで，そして2006年7月にCD-ROMで入手可能となる。初版は1988年発行，前版は2003年11月に発行された。

本仕様は，シリコンウェーハの英数字マーキングシステムについて記述している。マーキングコードが含んでいる情報は，ウェーハ識別数値に加えて，出所（ベンダー），おおよその比抵抗値，ドーパント種および結晶成長方位についてである。本仕様は，ウェーハメーカーによって実施されるすべてのウェーハマーキングの一貫性を保証するものである。この一貫性により，自動光学文字読取装置（OCR）の性能に対する要求条件の簡素化が可能になる。
