本スタンダードは，global Compound Semiconductor Committeeで技術的に承認されている。現版は2010年12月21日，global Audits and Reviews Subcommitteeにて発行が承認された。2011年2月にwww.semiviews.orgおよび www.semi.orgで入手可能となる。初版は2000年10月発行。

 

化合物半導体エピタキシャル層は, 長年にわたって高速エレクトロニクスおよびオプトエレクトロニクスデバイスの基本構造として広範囲に使用されてきた。ユーザの仕様通りに材料を成長させる，エピタキシャル層のサプライヤがいる。スタンダード化された用語，許容範囲，および推奨されたテスト方法等を定義し，ウェーハ仕様の解釈の曖昧さをなくす必要がある。特に力を入れたのは，均一性の定義である。本文書が扱うのは，基本となる必要条件だけである。実際の製品仕様においてはユーザ，サプライヤ間の更なる要求項目が必要とされる。
