Abstract
本スタンダードは，global Silicon Wafer Committeeで技術的に承認されている。現版は2008年8月29日，global Audits and Reviews Subcommitteeにて発行が承認された。2008年10月にwww.semi.orgで，そして2008年11月にCD-ROMで入手可能となる。
このドキュメントは，450mmウェーハ，キャリア，ロードポート，AMHSとロボットなどの450mm半導体装置の研究，開発，初期設計検討に使うことを意図した450mmメカニカルハンドリングウェーハの仕様を定める。
この仕様は，直径450mm鏡面ウェーハの寸法要求をカバーする。この仕様は，ハンドリングウェーハの短期的なニーズを扱うことを意図する。プロセス開発やある技術を特定したデバイス製造に使える品質を持ったウェーハなどの仕様を決めることを意図してはない。プロセス開発用ウェーハ仕様，プライムウェーハ仕様とデバイス製造に使える品質を持ったウェーハの技術的なガイドラインによってこの規格は取って代わるべきである。
購入仕様全体としては，物理特性をその大きさを求める測定法と共に追加仕様とする必要があろう（§5を参照）。
ここにある基本仕様を満たすウェーハは，装置のセットアップやロボットハンドリングに適用する「メカニカルハンドリング」ウェーハとして使うに適している。
参考までに，SI（System International，一般にメートル法と呼ばれる）単位が使われる。
