本スタンダードは，Global Micropatterning Committeeで技術的に承認されたもので，Japanese Micropatterning Committeeが直接責任を負うものである。現版は2004年7月23日Japanese Regional Standards Committeeにて承認されている。2004年9月にまずwww.semi.orgで入手可能になり，2004年11月発行に至る。初版は1997年発行。
