Semiconductor Technology Overview is an 8-hour webinar over 2 days at 4 hours each. This webinar will help you make sense of the myriad types of technologies used for today’s semiconductor components and integrated circuits. We place special emphasis on the basic categories for each chip type and we summarize the advantages, disadvantages, and issues associated with each type. This course is a must for managers, engineers, and technicians who are new to working in the semiconductor industry,  new to using semiconductor components, and new to supplying tools to the industry.

Course Description:

Semiconductor and integrated circuit developments continue to proceed at an incredible pace. The industry as a whole has gotten to this point of incredible complexity through the process of countless breakthroughs and developments. Today’s semiconductor components and integrated circuits are used in everything from toys and toaster ovens to automobiles and aircraft. There is a bewildering array of technologies used to create the chips used in these applications. Participants will learn about the major types of chip technologies. This includes the major IC categories like CMOS, BiCOMS, and Bipolar along with other distinctions like LDMOS, BD, etc. We will also cover the major power semiconductor devices categories like Power MOSEFTs, Power Bipolasr, IGBTs, and Thyristors. In addition, we’ll discuss technology developments like SOI, FinFETs, and GAA devices.

Course Objectives:

  1. Recognize the many chip technologies on the market.  of the semiconductor industry.
  2. Determine which chip technology is the appropriate one for various applications, ensuring that the technology chosen will have the greatest probability of success.
  3. Discuss and understand the advantages and disadvantages of the various chip technologies in relation to their applications.
